On hand shows your ring on a realistic 3D hand, at its true size, with the same gold and diamonds as the normal 3D view. Shoppers tap the hand button in the viewer; nothing changes for you except one switch per product.

The hand is scaled to your ring
The hand is scaled to your ring's inner diameter, never the other way round. A size 6 ring (16.5 mm inside) and a size 10 ring (19.8 mm inside) sit on hands of different sizes, just as they would in real life. The ring keeps its exact proportions; it rests on the top of the finger, between the knuckles, with its head facing up.
Very unusual sizes are clamped: if a ring is far smaller or larger than a real finger allows, the hand stops at its smallest or largest size and the ring is still shown.
Which pieces get it
- Rings are detected automatically from the 3D file: we find the ring's hole and measure it. Nothing to set up.
- Pendants, earrings and other pieces don't get the button. A pendant's bail or an earring's hook is not a finger hole.
- Rings you added before On hand existed are measured automatically from the 3D file already in your store. You don't need to upload anything again.
Turn it on or off for a product
- In the app, open the product.
- Under On hand, tick or untick Show on hand. It is on by default for rings.
- Click Save.
The preview on the same page shows the hand button, so you can try it before shoppers do.
Default skin tone and pose
In Settings → Viewer (the On hand section) you can choose what shoppers see first:
- Default skin tone: light, medium, tan or deep.
- Default pose: relaxed or elegant.
Automatic uses the hand's own defaults. Shoppers can always change both.
What shoppers can do
- Turn the hand on and off with the hand button.
- Pick one of four skin tones.
- Switch between a relaxed and an elegant pose.
- Use three hand positions: Hand angle, Hand front and Hand close-up.
- Change the metal, drag, zoom, auto-rotate and go full screen, exactly as without the hand.
Privacy
- Nothing new is stored about shoppers. On hand adds two anonymous events to your analytics (the hand turned on or off, and the skin tone chosen), with the same rules as every other event: no cookies, no IP addresses.
- The hand files are the same for every store. They load only when the shopper taps On hand, from our assets server, never before. Our assets server keeps no access logs. See our privacy policy.
In your analytics
The On hand card shows how many visits turned the hand on, the share of all visits, the skin tones chosen, the hand positions used, and add-to-cart with the hand compared to 3D without it.
Limits
- The button appears only for rings. If a ring isn't detected (for example an open or very unusual band), it shows no button.
- Unusual sizes are clamped to the hand's smallest or largest size.
- The hand is a single adult hand. It is a display aid, not a sizing tool: always refer shoppers to your ring size guide.
